In a study on MM IIA-B (ca. 1850-1700 BCE) Impressed Fine Ware (IFW) at Phaistos – characterized by designs created using stamping devices, the precise nature of which remains debated – the author identified a group of vessels warranting closer examination. Some outlier examples suggest the possible use of stamp seals with ornamental motifs. This paper highlights key cases, including two from different deposits within the main Palace area and others from domestic contexts in the surrounding quarters, and explores their potential connection to a broader MBA Aegean-Anatolian tradition.
